About this app

Play a live HLS video stream on your screens: a security camera, a TV channel or an event feed. Paste the stream's address ending in .m3u8, choose whether to show the whole picture or fill the screen and crop, and turn audio on or off. It runs continuously, making it useful for lobbies, control rooms, live events and venues showing a broadcast.

Why teams choose this app

  • One link covers both technical streams and platforms, with no special setup
  • The format is detected on its own, and can be set by hand
  • The stream restarts itself when the player comes back after a power cut

What it does

Works out the format

The link tells it which format is in play. When the guess is wrong, the source can be set by hand.

How it fits

The picture can fill the screen or sit entirely inside it, depending on whether you can afford to crop the edges.

Sound under control

Audio stays off until you turn it on, because a stream that starts talking in a room is rarely welcome.

Where it fits

A bar or betting shop

The match on every screen in the room, set once for all of them.

A sports hall

The camera feed from the court on the screens in the foyer, visible from the corridor.

A conference

The main room’s stream on the screens outside, for the people who did not get in.

How to set it up

01

Paste the stream link

The address has to start with http or https. RTMP and RTSP addresses are rejected.

02

Check the source

If the stream does not start on its own, set the source by hand instead of leaving detection to guess.

03

Set picture and sound

Decide how the picture fits the screen and whether audio plays, then publish.

Requirements and limitations

Account
No account is needed for technical streams. Platform channels follow that platform’s own rules.
Data source
The stream is played from the address you paste, HLS, DASH, a video file, WebRTC, or a channel on a supported platform.
Network
A permanent connection is required, because the stream is fetched as it plays.
Refresh
The stream runs live; there is no refresh interval.
Offline behavior
With no connection there is no stream, so the item drops out of rotation until the network returns.
Limitations
RTMP and RTSP addresses cannot play in a browser, convert them to HLS or WebRTC at the source. The stream is torn down while the item is off-screen, so it does not hold a connection or make noise in the background.
