A Power BI report on the wall, with nobody signing in
Publish the report with Power BI’s “Publish to web”, paste the link, and it holds the screen and reloads itself.
About this app
Show a Power BI report on the big screen for everyone to follow. In Power BI use File, Embed report, Publish to web to create a public link, paste it here, and optionally set the whole report to reload every so often. Since it relies on a public publish-to-web link rather than a login, it is a straightforward choice for operations rooms, team walls and KPI displays.
Why teams choose this app
- The numbers live in the room instead of being opened on request
- No account and no sign-in on the screen itself
- You set how often the report reloads
What it does
Runs with nobody at a keyboard
A report published for public viewing has no login screen, so it loads on its own when the player comes back after a power cut.
A refresh you choose
Set how many minutes between reloads, often for a daily operations board, rarely for a monthly review.
Kept in its own frame
The report renders inside a sandboxed frame, so it cannot reach the rest of the screen or the other apps in the layout.
Where it fits
A sales team
Target against actual on the office wall, the same figures management reads in Power BI.
A control room
Downtime and machine utilisation on a large screen above the floor.
Customer support
Open tickets and response times, visible to the whole team without opening the tool.
How to set it up
Publish the report
In Power BI choose “Publish to web” and keep the address it gives you.
Paste the link
The address has to start with app.powerbi.com and point at the view of the report, not the editor.
Set the reload
Decide how many minutes between reloads, then publish.
Requirements and limitations
- Account
- No account is needed on the screen. The report must be published with “Publish to web”.
- Data source
- A publicly published Power BI report is loaded from the address you paste.
- Network
- A permanent connection is required. The report loads from Microsoft’s servers.
- Refresh
- Reloaded on the interval you set.
- Offline behavior
- Without a connection the report cannot load, so the item is skipped in rotation until the network returns.
- Limitations
- Only works with a report published through “Publish to web”. A normal report address asks for a login and will not load on an unattended screen. Note that “Publish to web” makes the report readable by anyone with the link, do not use it for confidential data.
